【摘要】:Water-extractablechloride,whenpresentinsufficientamount,hasapotentialtoinitiateoracceleratecorrosionofmetals,suchassteel,embeddedinorcontactingacementitioussystem,suchasmortar,grout,orconcrete.Thistestmethodisapplicablewhenaggregatescontainahighbackgroundofnaturallyoccurringchloride(seeACI222.1x2013;96).TestMethodC1152/C1152Mdeterminesacid-solublechlorideandTestMethodC1218/C1218Mdetermineswater-solublechloride.BothTestMethodsC1152/C1152MandC1218/C1218Mpulverizethesampletoafinepowderorfinegranularmaterial.TheSoxhletmethodisintendedtousenonpulverizedmaterial.ResultswithsomeaggregateshaveshownthattheSoxhletprocedureextractsanextremelylowamountofchloride,withmostofitremainingintherock,andtherefore,itisnotavailableforcorrosion.TheSoxhletextractionapparatusconsistsofthreesections:theboilingflask,whichcontainsreagentwateratthebeginningofthetest;theextractor,whichcontainsthesampleinsideathimble;and,thecondenser.Theextractorfunctionsbyboilingthewater,whichcondensesanddripsontothesample.Whenthewaterattainsafixedheightabovethesample,theextractorsiphonsthewaterfromthethimblebacktotheboilingflask.Theprocessrepeatsitselfuntilthetestisterminated.(RefertoFig.1.)FIG.1SoxhletExtractionApparatus1.1Thistestmethodprovidesproceduresforsamplingandanalysisofaggregateforwater-extractablechlorideusingaSoxhletextractor.Note18212;Thistestmethodistobeusedwhensignificantlyhighchloridecontenthasbeenfoundinaggregates,concretes,ormortars.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
